Terms & Conditions
Definitions
Student – Any currently enrolled student
Instructor – Official Berlin School of Podcasting staff instructors
Guest Instructor – Any out-of-town or local guest instructors teaching a workshop or course or masterclass through The Berlin School of Podcasting
School Director – Current School Director: Benjamin Lorch
Podcast – A digitally recorded audio production
Course – A series of classes based around a structured curriculum and syllabi, on-line, in person or hybrid
Class – An individual part of a course.
Workshop – A single focused session on a particular style, format or discipline that supplements our core curriculum.
All potential students wishing to enroll in courses at The Berlin School of Podcasting must agree to the following policies and statements:
Enrollment Policies
By enrolling in for a Berlin School of Podcasting course or workshop, potential students acknowledge having read and agreed to these policies in full.
Students are enrolled in courses when payment of said course tuition is received in full by The Berlin School of Podcasting.
To enroll students must be at least 18 years old by the time the course starts.
Course Content & Viability Policies
A description of the course together with the dates on which the course will begin are available on The Berlin School of Podcasting website. We will seek to provide the course with all reasonable care and skill in accordance with the description set out on the website. It is understood that all guest speakers and events are subject to change and cancellation. Should changes or cancellations occur, we will work diligently to to provide suitable substitute speakers and events.
Very Early Bird and Early Bird Tuition rates apply for enrollments and payments received before the respective deadlines.
All courses at The Berlin School of Podcasting are subject to minimum enrollments to guarantee course viability. Should the minimum enrollment for a course not be reached the course will be canceled and refunds awarded to enrolled students.
Fees, Withdrawals & Tuition Refunds Policies
Listed prices apply for individuals paying tuition privately from their own personal funds. Early Bird Tuition rates apply for enrollments and payments received before the respective deadlines. Company/organization/institution-sponsored tuition, including through reimbursement of the individual, is 2x the listed price.
Enrolled “early bird” students paying reduced fees may withdraw their enrollment and receive a refund 24 calendar days before the first in person class session. No reason for withdrawal need be stated. Such requests for withdrawal must be made by email. Students that request withdrawal before the 24 day time boundary will receive a full refund to the original method of payment minus a 50 Euro processing fee.
Enrolled students paying full tuition fees may withdraw their enrollment and receive a refund 10 calendar days before the first in person class session. No reason for withdrawal need be stated. Such requests for withdrawal must be made by email. Students that request withdrawal before the 10 day time boundary will receive a full refund to the original method of payment minus a 50 Euro processing fee.
There are no refunds for students enrolling within 10 days of the first class session.
Any banking and/or transfer fees on funds paid to The Berlin School of Podcasting will be carried (paid) by the sender, the potential student(s).
Cancellation Policies
The Berlin School of Podcasting does not offer refunds for any courses or workshops, excepting cases in which a course or workshop must be canceled or a student withdraws their enrollment before the course begins within the terms described above. Please keep this in mind before enrolling by paying tuition!
In the case of course or workshop cancellation, registered students will be notified via email and will receive a full refund to the original method of payment.
Statement on Discrimination
The Berlin of Podcasting does not tolerate discriminatory behavior, misconduct or harassment of any kind.
The Berlin of Podcasting does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, sexual preference, gender or gender identity, nationality, ancestry, ethnicity, age, disability, religious beliefs, marital status, appearance, or identity in any of its activities or operations. These activities include, but are not limited to, hiring and firing of staff, programming of podcasts, selection of volunteers and vendors, and provision of services.
Anyone asked to stop any discriminatory behavior, misconduct or harassment is expected to comply immediately.
Communications Policies
Excluding direct, spoken contact in class (online and in person), students shall communicate with instructors only through the sanctioned Berlin School of Podcasting communication channel which is email. All questions or concerns about courses, workshops and business arrangements should be directed them to Berlin School of Podcasting administration directly via email to: benjamin@berlin-school-of-podcasting.com
Intellectual Property Policies
All intellectual property rights in the course materials, online courses and the speeches made by trainers are, and remain, the intellectual property of The Berlin School of Podcasting whether adapted, written for or customized for the client/student or not.
Force Majeure
The Berlin School of Podcasting shall have no liability to the student/customer if it is prevented from or delayed in performing its obligations or from carrying on its business, by acts, events, omissions or accidents beyond its reasonable control, including, without limitation, strikes, lock-outs or other industrial disputes (whether involving the workforce of The Berlin School of Podcasting or any other party), failure of a utility service or transport or telecommunications network, act of God, war, riot, civil commotion, malicious damage, compliance with any law or governmental order, rule, regulation or direction, accident, breakdown of plant or machinery, fire, flood, storm or default of suppliers or subcontractors, provided that the Customer is notified of such an event and its expected duration.
Governing Law
Any dispute or claim (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Germany and Berlin.
Jurisdiction
Each party irrevocably agrees that the courts of Berlin, Germany shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising (including non-contractual disputes or claims).
